ABOUT JAMES PHILIP

James Philip is an author, entrepreneur, investor, music producer, and business thought leader.
James Philip is no ordinary entrepreneur.

Raised in a working class neighborhood in downriver Michigan, James Philip grew up with a natural street hustle and an aggressive outlook on business and life.

In his teens, James’ ambition led him to start several companies selling a variety of goods. Also an avid reader, James would spend hours and hours in the local bookstore, flipping through manual after manual, and textbook after textbook. Through these books, James would explore a world far wider than his downriver roots.

Ever ambitious, James would become one of the youngest recipients of the Microsoft MCSE certification in the state of Michigan. This achievement served as the launchpad for a career of technology success.
Over the course of the next two decades James would go on to start and build over a dozen companies and brands, establishing Heavy Hitter Holdings to house all his ventures and investments.

Today, Heavy Hitter Holdings is home to more a dozen brands spanning recruiting and executive search, market research, human capital consulting, digital marketing, CPG products, music, digital media and publishing, and startup investing.
In 2018, James founded Lost Reality Music, combining his passion for music and innate creativity to establish an artist promotion and development agency.

Expanding his entrepreneurial expertise outside of technology and marketing, James founded Lost Reality Music with the goal of giving back to musicians and artists while helping them on their path to the top.

Providing musicians and artists with an incubator for music production, traditional and digital marketing expertise, access to world-class beats makers and producers, and video production capabilities, James' vision for Lost Reality Music is to have studios and incubators all over the US.
For Lost Reality Music, James writes, produces, and develops music with rising artists who find themselves struggling with production and development issues.

In 2018, Lost Reality Music signed its first artist, Atlanta rapper King Blitz, after the talented producer and musician won Lost Reality Music's inaugural $10,000 Trap Beat Contest.
In addition to his involvement in music, James has stayed true to his startup nature and is an avid angel investor in up-and-coming businesses.

Among his investments, James is in the group of the four largest investors in the world’s premier cocktail institution and hospitality consultancy, Death & Company \ Gin & Luck.
James, still as restless as ever, has no plans on retirement and settling down in the future. The startup mogul hopes to continue his legacy by creating more opportunities, more music, and changing more lives through his angel investments.

In his spare time, James is a prolific writer and thought-leader, and has been featured in Fast Company, Business Insider, The Chicago Tribune, American Business Forum, and Advisors magazine.

James regularly contributes to Thrive Global & Money Inc., and is currently finishing up several books for release in 2019 on topics ranging from business, startups, manufacturing, and careers.
